Worms in my Hamburger

Myth: Fast food places use ground up earthworms as cheap filler in their hamburger.

True or False: False!

This urban legend seems to have started in the 80’s by some radio DJ’s. It’s gone through many different phases from earthworms to other cow parts that aren’t necessarily meat. The truth is that earthworms are more expensive than the beef that the stores sell. McDonalds and most other places, try to make it very clear in their advertising and ingredient lists that they use 100% pure beef (cow parts other than meat can’t be called beef).
Well, ok but what about that other rumor that says the earthworms are really used in hot dogs? They say that it’s disguised as the ingredient "sodium erythrobate". This one also isn’t true! Hey it sounds cool, but really sodium erythrobate is all synthetic (made by people with chemicals rather than naturally occurring ingredients, like earthworms).
