Song:     A Window to His Love- Julie de Azevedo

Reader 5:     D&C 4:1-3 “Now behold, a marvelous work is about to come forth among the children of men.  Therefore, O ye that embark in the service of God, see that ye serve him with all your heart, might, mind and strength, that ye may stand blameless before God at the last day.  Therefore, if ye have desires to serve God ye are called to the work;”

I suppose that one of the most important things we can learn is how to know another’s need. The Relief Society helps teach how we need to extend ourselves and become more sensitive.  The entire focus of the Relief Society program is to bring us out of the world and “unto Christ”.  I can also learn from other sisters. When I go into homes to do my visiting teaching, I always come away with a better understanding of others and a greater desire to love and serve them.

When we do the Lord’s work we are so abundantly rewarded that I wonder why we need to be commanded to give service. Repeatedly I’ve gone out to give service and returned home filled with a wonderful sense of His love.  Not only His love for me and my love for Him, but love for the sisters I’ve worked with and for those we’ve served.  That is a miracle that He does for me.

Reader 6:     Matthew 5:14-16 “Ye are the light of the world.  A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.  Neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.  Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

Emma Smith, wife of the Prophet Joseph and first president of the Relief Society, told the sisters, “We are going to do something extraordinary, something really extraordinary.”  That was in a day when few, if any, other women’s organizations existed. It was something out of the ordinary in itself, but could she possibly know the extent of the work they began?  I wonder if anyone can comprehend the magnitude of the work or the good that has been done by the sisters and yet will be done as we unite our efforts in service.

The work to be done is sometimes overwhelming, it’s easy to think that the little things I could do, could never possibly make a difference.  But then, I remember my Savior.  I remember the life He led.  He does not see me as insignificant.  He loves me.   He atoned for my sins and gave His life for me.  He loves all of us with that same sweet nature.  And Because I love Him, I do whatever I can to share that love with others for that is how His work will be accomplished.
